911 nicht vom Mobiltelefon anrufen?

In Oakland (US) wird folgendes empfohlen:

Call (510) 777-3211, the emergency number for use with cell phones.
As a reminder, DO NOT CALL 911 from a cell phone.

  • When you call 911 from a cell phone, the call is routed to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The CHP than has to re-route the call to your local police or fire dispatcher, losing precious time.

RFC 5985 veröffentlicht: HTTP-Enabled Location Delivery (HELD)

Die Spezifikation des HELD Protokolls wurde nun von der IETF als RFC 5985 veröffentlicht. HELD dient zur Standortkonfiguration. Ein Client, z.B. ein VoIP Telefon kann mittels HELD von einem Location Server seine Standortinformation anfordern.

Weiters wurde auch RFC 5986 publiziert: “Discovering the Local Location Information Server (LIS)”. Darin wird beschrieben, wie ein Client in einem Netzwerk überhaupt den Server findet, den er mit HELD zur Standortkonfiguration kontaktieren kann.

Zap! nur im XP Modus unter Windows 7

Zap!, der Notrufclient von nic.at (siehe unter Praxis) funktioniert unter Windows 7 nur im XP Modus. Wird Zap sonst unter Windows 7 gestartet verhält er sich zunächst normal, die Notruferweiterungen für z.B. Standortbestimmung und LoST funktionieren einwandfrei, doch bei Absetzen eines Calls bleibt Zap! mit der Meldung “Resolving Route” hängen.
